Over the past two decades, Basem’s drive for exhilarating challenges inspired him to take on regional roles across the GCC and North America in diverse sectors, with a focus on fueling his expertise in Education, Healthcare and Real Estate. During his career, he was actively involved in: leadership, Private Equity investments, operations, origination, capital raise, growth and executing strategy with remarkable achievements. Basem invested and advised on transactions exceeding 300 M USD across his illustrious network of family offices, Investment Firms, and other corporates.
Basem’s passion towards value creation and inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit lead and cofounded 5 new ventures including The Learning Curve Holdings, The Health Care Network, Tharaa Capital, Aster Club Global Partners and Catalyzers.
Basem has been very active in the EdTech (and Healthtech) as an Angel investor, advisor and mentor and was part of the team launching First EdTech focused venture studio in the Region.
Basem has recently been an active Mentor, Judge and Speaker in local and international conferences and forums with a focus on PE/VC Healthcare, Education, and Real Estate Investments. He has lived through many startups and understands their challenges and their affinity to disruption through differentiated business models with an agile, highly motivated and determined team.
Basem graduated from London Business School with an EMBA in strategy and finance, and has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is fluent in Arabic, and English and is a Canadian national who is passionate about the environment and exploring the underwater world.
